My First Card Using Copic Markers

Wow, this is my first post in almost a week ... seems longer than that! This is a card for a friend who's birthday is July 4th. I wanted to do something other than the traditional red, white and blue, so I chose this cute little bird. It's a freebie, a digital image from Dustin Pike. This is my first serious attempt at using my new Copic markers. (Enfys kindly gave me a few tips on getting started with Copics, thanks Enfys!) I colored his little 'feet' twice, cutting out the second image separately to make it look like he's actually sitting on the branch which was cut using the Cricut Home Decor cartridge at 2 3/4". The gold and brown cardstock are from Papertrey Ink and the green cardstock is a Bazzill Basics. The patterned paper is a digital from Designer Digitals. It's from a set call Summer Safari. I added some flowers and brads, and a couple of rhinestones for a little bling. I've got lots of ideas floating around in my head ... I hope it's not another week before I get back to my cards!!

Last Graduation Card of the Season - I Think

My daughter asked me to make a graduation card for a friend who just completed her Masters degree. I thought I might as well try a challenge while I was at it. The current challenge at Caardvarks is to create a window card. The aperture was cut and embossed with a Nestabilites oval. I then stamped the image using a fun stamp from Stamping Bella and colored it with Prismas & OMS and Copic glitter pens. I added a ribbon and some self-adhesive pearls. The sentiment is computer generated. This is the first time I submitted a card for a Caardvarks challenge...here's hoping it shows well!!

No Layer Card

I made this card for the ThreeCloversDesigns
Thursday Challenge #18. This week's challenge was to make a card using only one sheet of card stock...no layers. My image is from Peachy Keen stamps, colored with Prisma's and OMS. I embossed around the image using my Cuttlebug and a Nestabilities circle. The sentiment stamp is from Whipper Snapper's Sweet Expressions set. I added a rhinestone, a little ribbon and some doodling. It was a fun, little card to make....something different. What do you think? Let me know!

Yet Another Baby Card

Okay, so I've been on quite the baby card kick....I've made three in the last week! I guess it's because, not only did I get a new Cricut cartridge , but also a new paper stack. Here are the details on this one: The card is 5"x7". "Baby" was cut at 1.5" using New Arrival. The patterned paper is from DCWV's Nana's Nursery pack and the card stock is Bazzill Basics Guacamole, trimmed using a Martha Stewart border punch. I added a little ribbon and some pop dots... not much to this one. Anyway, this is my last baby card for awhile. I'm off to bigger and better things!

Mojo Monday # 91 - Happy Anniversary

I made this for my husband...we will celebrate our 30th anniversary on July 1st. I've had the idea for this card brewing for sometime now and this week's Mojo Monday challenge just seemed to fit. It's an odd size, 5' x 8.5'...I needed the room and since I'm not mailing it, I thought it would be okay. The patterned papers are digitals from my Funky Hand cd and the card stock is from Papertrey Ink. I used the Life's a Beach cartridge for the ship, cut at 3.25' and the tag is from Tags, Bags, Boxes and More. The sentiments are computer generated and I've added some ribbon, a brad and pop dots. Finished it off with a little inking and doodling. Hope you like it.

Another New Arrival Card

Just a quick post...it's late and I should be in bed. I've made another card using New Arrival, I really like this cartridge. The card is size A2. The card stock is from Papertrey Ink and the patterned paper is from a DCWV Nana's Nursery paper pack. The 'onsie' was cut at 3.25" and the 'angel' was cut from Graphically Speaking at 1.25" (I covered it with some Glossy Accents for a little shine). I added a little stitching, a couple of buttons from my stash and a bit of embroidery floss. I was trying to make a card more suitable for a boy...but this still looks kinda 'girly' to me.

New Awards from my Blogging Friends

It's been a hectic past few days. I'm on the planning committee for our local Relay for Life and our event was this past Friday night. I had the usual last minute things to do, plus the all-night relay. Really, I just don't seem to recover from the all-nighters like I used to. Anyway, when I made it back to my blog, I was surprised to find two blogs award. The first was from Barb...she gave me the Lemonade Stand award. Look for it on the rightside column of my blog. The second was this award from Kris. Many thanks to both...how wonderful to be recognized. A requirement of the award is to list 7 honest things about yourself. Here goes:

3. I'm a veteran. I retired from the US Air Force in 1994.

4. I worry too much about things I can't change, but I'm getting better about that.

5. I'm the youngest of six children.

6. I was born and raised in Missouri and, even though I've lived in lots of different places, Missouri is where I feel most at home.

7. No matter how hard I try, I cannot go into a Michaels and purchase only one thing.

Mojo Monday #90

On Monday evening, I tried to do this week's Mojo Monday challenge and wasn't very successful. So, I tried again tonight with better results. This card is 5x7. The little outfit is from New Arrival, cut at 3.5". The patterned paper is from the DCWV Nana's Nursery stack. I stamped the sentiment using a stamp from Papertrey Ink's Mega Mixed Messages set. I added some stitching, a couple buttons, some rick rack and pop dots. This is the first time I've stitched on one of my cards...I like it....I'm pretty sure I'll try it again.

Monday, June 8, 2009

I only made one card last week...work kept getting in the way. I'm going to try to do better this week. This was supposed to be for this week's Mojo Monday, but just couldn't get the proportions right. I might try again later in the week, anyway, this is what I came up with instead. The bird was cut from Home Decor at 2.5 and the scalloped ovals were cut from Storybook at 3.25. The patterned paper is from DCWV's Nana's Nursery and the red card stock is a Bazzill Basics which I embossed with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder. The stamp is a Inkadinkado I got on sale at Michael's. The ribbon and yellow card stock are from my stash. Kind of simple...but I like it, hope you do too!

Hello Kitty - Thinking of You

I have friends who recently lost a baby as a result of a miscarriage. They also have a three year old who is just a gem... such a sweet little girl... she was so excited about being a big sister. I thought she might need a "Happy Card". This is what I came up with.

The card size is 5"x7". I used the Cricut Hello Kitty Greetings cartridge and cut Kitty at 4.75". The flower on the inside was cut at 2.75". Other items used: Prima flowers, rhinestones, a brad, ribbon trim, heart lace trim, Martha Stewart punch and pop dots. The printed paper is from a Michael's stack and the card stock is from my stash. I added a little doodling with a Copic glitter pen and the sentiment is computer generated. Hope you like it!
