Note Card Set - Storybook

I needed a quick birthday gift, so I made this set of note cards. The cards are A2 size. I used the Storybook cartridge for the monograms ... cut them at 4". The black card stock and the "Just Because" stamp are from Papertrey Ink. The green card stock is from Bazzill, and the patterned paper is from a Designer Digitals set called Simple Classics No 2.
I added a few flat-backed pearls and a little gingham ribbon ...
Then, to complete the set, I recycled an acrylic box to use as a holder for the note cards. I embellished it with a strip of patterned paper, edged with a Martha Stewart punch. Added more ribbon and a flower made with die-cuts from my stash. Topped it off with a card stamped with a Penny Black stamp, clipped to the top of the box. Just a quick and simple set!!

Heard You Caught A Bug - Get Well Card

This is a card I've entered in our County Fair. One of the categories is Get Well cards and I wanted to make a fun one.

The image is a digital from Dustin Pike ... I printed the image on a plain piece of card stock, then using the Center Point button on my Cricut, cut the jar around the image using the Doodlecharms cartridge. I colored the 'bug' with Copic markers and then covered the jar with a thin coating of Glossy Accents to make it look glass-like. To make the lid, I cut another jar out of gray paper and snipped off the top, then inked it using a metallic ink. Finally, for the base, I cut another jar from pink card stock using the Shadow feature.

The flowers were cut using the Walk in My Garden cartridge ... I added buttons, twine, some doodling and leaves made using a Martha Stewart punch. All the card stock is from Papertrey Ink and the designer paper is from K and Company. The sentiments were computer generated.

Here's a peek at the inside. I've entered four cards total. I should know the results of the judging this evening. I'll let you know I did ...

Penny Black Week 57 ~ Swirls & Copic Creations Challenge 8 ~ Botanicals

I fell in love with this stamp after seeing a wonderful card my blogging friend Brenda made with it (visit her blog here). The stamp is called "Love Blush" and since it's a Penny Black stamp, I though I would use it for this week's challenge ... which is to add swirls to a project. I'm also using this card for Copic Creations Challenge ~ Botanicals. Links to both challenge sites are on the right side panel of my blog.

I wanted the swirls to subtle, but didn't have a swirly background stamp. Sigh, now what to do? Then I remembered I could make a stamp using my Cricut. With the stamp material, a really sticky mat and the deep cut blade, I cut a swirly design using the Storybook cartridge. This is the first time I've tried making a stamp and it worked perfectly ... if you haven't tried this yet, I highly recommend it!! Using my 'new' stamp on an acrylic block and VersaMark Dazzle ink in Champagne, I stamped swirls on navy cardstock.

Then I colored my stamped image with Copics (I'm secretly quite proud of how it turned out) ... layered the image on a digital paper from a Designer Digitals set called Sweetest Thing ... and added the frosted Martha Stewart gems, which, just by luck, match the striped paper perfectly.

This is a birthday card, and is 5.5" square, so I added the navy satin ribbon, hoping it would look somewhat like a birthday present. So, how'd I do? Let me know ...

Bitten by the Bug and July MCPT Challenge

The current challenge at Bitten by the Bug is to create something with a summer theme, using a Cricut cut and a yellow button. I had this image for the Cricut messageboard MCPT challenge, and thought I should combine the two. The card base was cut using the Hello Kitty cartridge. The circle was cut using the George cartridge and attached to the base with stitching. The image was colored using Prismas & odorless mineral spirits and glitter pen. I added some Crystal Accents to the glass and used pop dots for dimension. The card stock and sentiment stamp are from Papertrey Inc., and the patterned paper is digital paper from my Funky Hand cd. The ribbon, buttons and 'lemon slice' are from my stash.

Chirper Challenge #18 - Another Snail

Okay, two snails in one day ... I don't know why, it just worked out that way. This one is for the Chirper Challenge. We're to use brown, a zig-zag, and brads. This idea has been floating around in my head for sometime, so I thought I'd put it to good use. The brown and green card stock are from Papertrey Ink and the patterned paper is digital paper from my Funky Hand cd (have I ever told you how much I love digital paper?). The snail was cut using Walk In My Garden and the tag was cut from Tags, Bags, Boxes and More. I found the letter stickers at a discount store and thought the colors were perfect for this paper ... every now and then you just get lucky. I added stitching for my zig-zag, inked the edges and popped on the brads. And, since I have a hard time making a card without ribbon, I tied on a little bow. Kind of reminds me of a bandana. Anyway, this is the last card of the weekend ... back to work tomorrow. Hope everyone has a great week!

Polka Doodles and Peachy Keen Challenges

The challenge at Polka Doodles this week is to create something using fruit and include a hidden element. I combined that challenge with this week's sketch at Peachy Keen. The papers are 'Plain Green' and 'Sugar Gingham' from my Sugar Birdies cd. The watermelon stamp is from Peachy Keen, colored with Copic markers and a little glitter pen. I attached the watermelons with brads so they can be moved to reveal the hidden sentiment, then I added a little ribbon, some rhinestones, and a touch of doodling. The sentiments are computer generated. This was a fun card to make ... be sure to visit Polka Doodles and Peachy Keen to play along!

Inspired by the Bitten by the Bug Blog Hop

Earlier this week, there was a blog hop with the Bitten by the Bug design team. They used the 'freedom' cut from Cricut's Graphically Speaking cartridge. I didn't get mine finished in time for the blog hop, but thought I'd post it anyway. The card base was cut using the Wild Card cartridge at 5 1/4". The cream circle is from George, cut at 4 1/4", and "Freedom" was cut at 3 1/4. The little bear is a colored graphic from Graphic Garden. I covered it with Crystal Accents to give it some dimension. I added a little stitching, some doodling and a ribbon. The flowers are from a sprig of silk flowers I got at a discount store and the leaves are from a Martha Stewart punch. I may have gone a little overboard on the leaves ... I just couldn't seem to stop myself. I've been a slacker this week and haven't left any comments on my favorite blogs, so now I'm off to do a little "blog hopping".Hope you all have a happy and safe holiday weekend.
