Cricut 360° Blog Challenge #3 ... For Parents

Once again, I am absolutely amazed at the reponse we had for Challenge #2 ... are you ready for Challenge #3 from the Cricut 360° Blog? Well, July 24th is Parents' Day and we're making projects in honor of moms and dads everywhere.

For my project, I started with a small, inexpensive frame ... the inside dimensions are about 4" x 11". I removed the glass and covered the backing with some patterned paper from Michael's. Then, using quick dry glue, I added  a crocheted trim to the inside edge.

I then selected word art from several cartridges and used my Imagine to print and cut. All of the papers were printed from the Imagine More cartridge. For each word, I selected a pattern and solid paper. Both printed and then cut at the same size. All the edges were inked using a coordinating Stampin' Up marker. I off-set the solid paper to create a shadow effect. Each word is pop-dotted ... they kind of look like they're floating! I finished by adding self-adhesive pearls to the background and the edge of the frame.

At that point, I thought it needed a little something else, so I decided to add a flower. I used the Mother's Day Bouquet cartridge and Imagine More patterns for the flower petals and leaves. Those were inked, as well, and I added a pearl, some crinkle ribbon, crochet trim and a little copper wire to finish. I'm really happy with this little flower. If you haven't tried making flowers with the Mother's Day Bouquet cartridge ... you're missing out!!

Here are the cartridges I used for the word art:

Family - Gypsy Wanderings cut @ 2.3
Together - Graphically Speaking cut @ 1.8
Forever - Home Decor cut @ 2.4
Love - Beyond Birthdays cut @ 1.4

Oh, I almost forgot ... everything was spritzed with Pearl Glimmer Mist ... for just a little sparkle!

Now it's your turn ... for our random drawing this week we have an Echo Park 'Dots and Stripes' paper pad. Good Luck!!

Thanks for stopping by ...

I Love The Home Decor Cupcake

I've entered this in the Ribbon-Tastic challenge at
This is such a great cut ... it always turns out looking impressive.

I ran the pink paper through my crimper to make it look like a cupcake paper, then I Cuttlebugged and glittered the 'frosting'. To top it off, I embossed the cherry with clear embossing powder to give it a little shine. Then I finished it with some stitching and a pretty ribbon ... quick and simple.

Here's a look at the inside. The tag is a cut from Tags, Bags, Boxes and More and the sentiment stamps are from my new favorite Stampin' Up set.

Happy Birthday Cupcake

Here's a quick little card I made for my friend Karen. The cupcake is from Home Decor, flipped and welded. I used my Gypsy ... I don't have Design Studio, so this is the first time I've made a shaped card. I can see myself doing more of these. The frosting layer was run through my cuttlebug and I used some Crystal Accents on the cherry for a little shine. Then I added a little ribbon because, well because I just have to. Pretty simple, but I like how it turn out.

My First Card Using Copic Markers

Wow, this is my first post in almost a week ... seems longer than that! This is a card for a friend who's birthday is July 4th. I wanted to do something other than the traditional red, white and blue, so I chose this cute little bird. It's a freebie, a digital image from Dustin Pike. This is my first serious attempt at using my new Copic markers. (Enfys kindly gave me a few tips on getting started with Copics, thanks Enfys!) I colored his little 'feet' twice, cutting out the second image separately to make it look like he's actually sitting on the branch which was cut using the Cricut Home Decor cartridge at 2 3/4". The gold and brown cardstock are from Papertrey Ink and the green cardstock is a Bazzill Basics. The patterned paper is a digital from Designer Digitals. It's from a set call Summer Safari. I added some flowers and brads, and a couple of rhinestones for a little bling. I've got lots of ideas floating around in my head ... I hope it's not another week before I get back to my cards!!

I only made one card last week...work kept getting in the way. I'm going to try to do better this week. This was supposed to be for this week's Mojo Monday, but just couldn't get the proportions right. I might try again later in the week, anyway, this is what I came up with instead. The bird was cut from Home Decor at 2.5 and the scalloped ovals were cut from Storybook at 3.25. The patterned paper is from DCWV's Nana's Nursery and the red card stock is a Bazzill Basics which I embossed with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder. The stamp is a Inkadinkado I got on sale at Michael's. The ribbon and yellow card stock are from my stash. Kind of simple...but I like it, hope you do too!
